Kiku Jacket

Kiku is Japanese for Chrysanthemum. Originally destined to be a classic kimono, I've rearranged the panels and added glittery gold beads for this peachy jacket. It's in my suitcase, along with all my other jackets, trench coats, swings, blouses, pants, skirts and vests. We're off to Baltimore for the ACC Craft show , February 25-28!

Spring!

It's coming, I know it! The blossoms on the fabric of this trench coat are a reminder of the amazing burst of color that is just around the corner. Soon, very soon, the cherry trees will begin their annual performance.  I can't wait!

Black and White Branches

Inspired by wintry tree branches, this new jacket is pieced from a wonderful kimono silk printed with views of a Japanese village surrounded by a forest of trees. This is one of my all time favorite jacket shapes. It's a classic because it's comfortable, easy to wear and looks great on.

Gala at the Met

I love this photo of Nina in 'Neutrino'. She's on her way to a Metropolitan Opera gala evening.
Pretty! Pretty! Pretty!

A close up view to better show the beads and applique on Nina's jacket. 'Neutrino' was inspired by images of decaying subatomic particles . Yes! Subatomic particles leaving their spiraling trails in a bubble-chamber, another kind of pretty for sure.

Art on the Vine auction

I am delighted to be included in Oregon College of Art and Craft's 2010 annual fundraiser, Art on the Vine. I am collaborating with one of the best milliners anywhere, [anywhere!] Dayna Pinkham . We will be donating this pieced silk swing coat and blouse, along with Dayna's amazing hat. Art on the Vine is OCAC's gala event of the year, an evening of art and craft, food and wine. For more information check out their blog here.
